“The true mark of a leader is the willingness to stick with a bold course of action — an unconventional business strategy, a unique product-development roadmap, a controversial marketing campaign — even as the rest of the world wonders why you’re not marching in step with the status quo. In other words, real leaders are happy to zig while others zag. They understand that in an era of hyper-competition and non-stop disruption, the only way to stand out from the crowd is to stand for something special.” -Bill Taylor

The Nigerian diaspora continues to churn out industry leaders from all walks of life and the growing feeling in and across Nigeria is that these leaders need to be recognised and amplified so that their exemplary life of leadership can be modeled and cascaded down for many at home and abroad to emulate. Helen has proven yet again that Nigeria is a blessed country and given the right environment and leadership mindset, we as a people will indeed soar to ever greater heights regardless.
Her prowess, humility, and personality was highlighted by a friend recently on social media, he said, “recently I was puffing and panting and doing all manner of exercise in support of mental health awareness. I was nominated by Helen Adesuwa Uzamere. Every day I also watched her challenge and very often we don’t even know who we all are. We make assumptions and even try to ridicule those we think are craving attention, not realising the seriousness in their lives.
Helen Uzamere has just been made a Commissioner for Management Services in Mount Vernon, New York. She has the responsibility of bringing the County’s IT delivery service into the 21st Century. That is no small position!
She happens to be a Professor of Information Technology by the way and has held too many positions for me to enumerate here. Sometimes when we see people on Facebook ‘making a fool of themselves’ be careful who the real fool is. Well done Helen on another of your many achievements. Your nomination to join your adventure has also you had many lives. The videos we have done were a source of many opinions, some not very complimentary, but little do we know how far the positive outcomes go.
I am also proud she a Nigerian – Louis Ojomo a close friend wrote
“The single biggest way to impact an organization is to focus on leadership development. There is almost no limit to the potential of an organization that recruits good people, raises them up as leaders, and continually develops them.”
